Disclosure and quick answer

Match Guarantee publishes this comparison and has a commercial interest in international matchmaking. It is a reader-fit guide, not an independent consumer ranking and not a claim that any provider is universally best.

The best starting point is the service model, not a brand name. Decide whether you need a managed international search, a luxury retained search, a U.S.-centered service with selected international reach, or a membership-and-travel model where you manage more yourself. Then compare geography, support, pricing disclosure, and the written terms.

Read the comparison methodology and the historical review summary CSV and review coding log. Those August 27, 2026 materials explain the source rules and limitations. They are not a live provider ranking.

If you are researching a self-directed dating subscription, the InternationalCupid cost guide compares reported membership prices, free and paid tiers, and renewal details.

How this comparison works

The providers below are listed alphabetically. The comparison uses five consistent questions:

  1. Service model: Is the offer a managed search, retained search, monthly service, or membership with separate usage costs?
  2. Geography: Does the provider describe local, nationwide, multi-city, or international work?
  3. Support: What support does the provider say it provides, and what needs confirmation in a written agreement?
  4. Pricing disclosure: Does the provider publish a price, a starting price, a range, or require a consultation?
  5. Client fit: Does that model fit the search work you want to delegate and the responsibilities you will keep?

Each provider statement below comes from the provider’s official public page checked September 13, 2026. It is not independently verified. Prices, availability, terms, and service descriptions can change.

Service models at a glance

ServiceService model and geography described by the providerSupport and pricing disclosureWho may want to evaluate the model
A Foreign AffairMembership with communication and tour optionsIt publishes a $95 activation fee and $29.95 monthly Platinum renewal; separate communication and travel terms need checkingSomeone comfortable managing more communication and travel decisions.
Kelleher InternationalPrivate, human-led matchmaking; it describes multi-city and international searchesPricing is not published on the page reviewed; request current written scope and support detailsSomeone considering a custom private search across selected markets.
Master MatchmakersU.S.-focused matchmaking and coachingIt says fees start at $3,500; request current geography, introduction, and service termsSomeone evaluating a U.S.-focused search with coaching.
Match GuaranteeInternational introduction packagesIt publishes four packages from $2,900 to $50,000; its client journey is a first-party process descriptionSomeone considering Zoom-first international introductions and a defined package.
Selective SearchCustomized retained searchIt says retained searches average $50,000 to $500,000 and vary by scope and criteriaSomeone considering a high-budget, defined-scope retained search.
VIDA SelectMonthly matchmaking with provider-described database, recruiting, and online-platform sourcingIt says monthly memberships start at $1,695; verify current term and included servicesSomeone looking for a lower initial commitment or a monthly model.

This is not a scorecard. For example, a provider that does not publish prices is not necessarily unsuitable, and a published price is not proof of value. Confirm the actual proposal directly.

Reader-fit decision matrix

If you need…A model to evaluateQuestions that matter most
A managed, cross-border introduction processInternational packageWhere candidates are sourced, what video introductions mean, travel and translation limits, and who can decline before contact is shared.
A search across multiple cities with a larger budgetCustomized retained searchActive-search term, dedicated team, recruiting plan, pause rules, and what the retainer excludes.
A U.S.-centered search with coachingNationwide or monthly matchmakingGeographic reach, coaching limits, sourcing method, introduction definition, and renewal terms.
More direct control over communication and travelMembership and usage-fee serviceTotal costs for messages, calls, translation, tours, travel, cancellation, and safety responsibilities.

The matchmaker cost guide provides a proposal-normalization worksheet. Use the choosing a matchmaker worksheet to compare the process, consent steps, privacy terms, and service limits behind each proposal. For cross-border introductions, use the international dating safety guide before treating travel support as a substitute for your own verification and judgment.

Questions for every provider

  1. Where will potential introductions come from, and what is the realistic geography for my search?
  2. What does screening include, who performs it, and what does it not establish?
  3. What counts as an introduction, and does either person approve before contact details are shared?
  4. What is included in the total fee, and what could add cost for travel, translation, events, taxes, currency, or concierge work?
  5. Can the service pause, renew, or change when criteria or geography change?
  6. What do the written cancellation and refund terms say?
  7. What is the provider actually agreeing to do, separate from another person’s choices or feelings?

Make a shortlist, then verify it

Shortlist models that fit your budget, geography, and participation level. Request current written terms from each provider and use the same questions for all of them. Exclude any proposal that will not clearly define material terms.

If Match Guarantee’s stated model fits that shortlist, a free consultation can clarify its first-party process and current terms. It is an information-gathering step, not a reason to choose a provider before comparing the written agreement.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the best international matchmaking service?

There is no universal best service. The useful question is which service model fits your geography, support needs, budget, and willingness to manage parts of the process yourself.

How should I compare international matchmaking services?

Compare candidate sourcing, geography, support, pricing disclosure, introduction definitions, screening limits, total cost, pauses, renewals, refunds, and how both people consent to contact.

How much does international matchmaking cost?

Published prices vary widely because service models differ. Read current provider figures as dated examples, then compare the total written commitment rather than a headline price.

What should I ask before paying an international matchmaker?

Ask where candidates come from, what screening includes and cannot establish, what counts as an introduction, who can decline before contact details are shared, which costs are extra, and what the agreement says about pauses, renewals, cancellation, and refunds.

How are international matchmaking services different from dating apps?

Apps generally leave searching, screening, and scheduling to the user. A matchmaking service charges for some combination of those tasks. The practical difference depends on the written service and your participation.
